Head of Leasehold Advisory & Enfranchisement
Jennifer is an experienced solicitor and head of leasehold advisory and enfranchisement at SO Legal, based in our London office. She specialises in complex leasehold matters and is recognised for her depth of knowledge in the field.
Jennifer qualified as a solicitor ten years ago, having already spent two years advising on residential leasehold issues. She acts for both leaseholders and landlords and previously spent three and a half years at another Holborn-based law firm.
She is also a member of the Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners (ALEP), a professional body that promotes excellence and best practice in leasehold enfranchisement work.
Her work covers:
- Lease extensions and freehold claims under the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993.
- Voluntary lease extensions, deeds of variation, and agreed freehold transfers.
- Right of first refusal claims under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987.
- Freehold purchases of houses under the Leasehold Reform Act 1967.
- Right to manage applications under the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002.
- Tribunal proceedings relating to enfranchisement and leasehold management.
She regularly advises individual flat owners and groups of leaseholders looking to extend leases, buy their freeholds, or take over management of their buildings. She also acts for landlords responding to these claims, ensuring the process runs smoothly and the legal complexities are clearly explained.
Jennifer closely monitors ongoing leasehold reform proposals and legislative changes, keeping her clients informed and ensuring they are always one step ahead.
